As the 2024 competition schedule wrapped up for table tennis clubs across the state, selectors were hard at work preparing the prestigious end-of-year rankings. Published annually in late December, these rankings honour the top 10 players across a variety of categories, including Juniors, Seniors, Youths, Paras, and Veterans.
Drawing from an entire year’s worth of tournaments at local, state, and sometimes national levels, securing a spot on this list is no small feat. That’s why Rocky Table Tennis is so proud to announce that three of our veteran players achieved Top 10 rankings in their respective age divisions—an achievement reflecting their strong performance throughout 2024.
Ann-Louise Stewart
#2 in Over 40 Women
#7 in Over 50 Women
Ann-Louise’s hard work throughout 2024 truly paid off. As the reigning Rockhampton Closed Ladies and Veterans Champion, she earned not one but two Top 10 rankings - #2 in Over 40 Women and #7 in Over 50 Women.
While Ann-Louise is no stranger to the rankings list, her #2 spot in the Over 40 Women’s division is an exceptional achievement. Among her many highlights was a finals finish in the Over 40 Singles at the Queensland Veteran’s Championships, where she was only narrowly defeated by Mackay’s Emma Widdup, this year’s top-ranked player in the category.
Pam Clarke
#6 in Over 60 Women
#4 in Over 65 Women
Pam continues to demonstrate that it’s possible to excel both as a coach and a player. Her strong results in 2024 earned her a #4 ranking in the Over 65 Women’s division and #6 in Over 60 Women.
Her year was highlighted by a silver medal in the Over 65 Women’s Singles at the Queensland Veteran’s Championships and an impressive showing in the Over 60 Women’s team event. With this form, we’re excited to see Pam bring her experience into the 2025 season - and hopefully the National Veterans Championships as well.
Monica Deeth
#10 in Over 60 Women
Monica is known at Rocky fixtures for her very steady and consistent style close to the table which she continued to develop throughout last year. Her hard work paid off with competitive results at both local and state tournaments, earning her a well-deserved #10 ranking in the Over 60 Women’s division.
Monica also represented Queensland at the Australian Veteran’s Championships alongside club-mate Warun Wilkinson. Her efforts in the maroon jersey certainly caught the selectors’ attention. With the improvements she’s made over the past year, we can’t wait to see what Monica achieves in 2025.
We’re incredibly proud of Ann-Louise, Pam, and Monica for their fantastic achievements. As we look forward to 2025, we can’t wait to see what all of our players will accomplish in the year ahead.
